Rebit 1 TB Appliance Review

Reviewed by K.C. Kim
$269.95
http://www.rebit.com/products-desktop.html

* Rebit software included (no need to purchase additional software)
* CD-ROM disk drive
* NTFS formatted, non-RAID system drive
* 300 MB available hard disk space
* An available USB 2.0 port
* Compatible with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows© XP and XP Pro (Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3), 32-bit or 64-bit Windows© Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate), and 32-bit or 64-bit Windows© 7 (All Editions)

Buy this if the computer to be backed up has a 1 TB or smaller hard drive.

Once you plug the Rebit backup appliance into your computer's USB port, simply click "ok" to enable its software to run, and that's it.

Rebit backs up everything, from pictures to e-mails, even your applications, settings and operating system. You don't do anything. There are no schedules to set, no backup media to set up.

Moments after a file is created or deleted, Rebit will back it up. It will even back up versions of files so that you can recover if you accidentally save over a file. And if you unplug Rebit, it will automatically catch up from where it left off once you plug it back in again.

Intro: I say this all the time that people should backup there data. I have had 3 hard drives die on me and I did not backup the drive. So I ended up losing important files, photos, and documents. These are things you can't get back unless you backup your stuff. There is many solutions out there but I was looking for one that keeps up with the current large capacity PCs. Rebit has a 1TB Backup Appliance loaded with their software to make simple backing up of your data.

Design: The Rebit 1TB Appliance is made of mostly metal with some plastic parts. It feels very sturdy. It has a slight heft to it but that's due to the metal enclosure which gives it a quality feel. On the top you will find a handle that makes it easier to carry around with you. On the bottom you will find the usb connection, ac connection, and on/off switch.

Function: The Rebit is dead simple to use. All you have to do is connect the Rebit appliance to your PC then click OK and keep the drive plugged in and it will automatically back up your computer. The drive is self automated so it backups your data while your working away on your PC. In the event that your computer drive fails, replace the drive, connect the Rebit drive, and boot your computer from cd-rom.

Conclusion: The Rebit drive lives up to it's promise of simple back up solution for all consumers. It's one investment I can get behind. There is no doubt that every PC user will need this at some point. And the ease of use makes this one of the better solutions for anyone to use without an fuss.

9.7 Out of 10
